The Lonely Planet Story

Couple days ago i went to Gramedia Golden Gunung Sahari, i just acknowledged about 20% discount if you pay it with BCA card. At the first step of my pace into the store, i saw a book and without second thought i just grab that marvelous book.

The title like i mentioned before, is about the history about Lonely Planet, how Tony and Maureen Wheeler found it. As you may know Lonely Planet is the most famous travel guide aroung the globe. It's a "must-have-thing" for backpacker.

For me, Lonely Planet travel guide is a must (not the paper back but the on the web forms, because Lonely Planet printed form is still expensive in Jakarta), every time i want to go abroad, i have to browse it through the Lonely Planet official website first http://www.lonelyplanet.com. In the website you can learn many things about the destination country such as currency, electricity rule (prepare for the electricity converter), visa and entry, place to go, getting there and around, when to go, whether, and many more. Overall it helps me a lot !

So, the story begins when Tony Wheeler, England citizen, met and felt in love with Maureen in a park in the middle of London. Tony and Maureen planed a 1 year trip from England to Australia overland, after they arrived in Australia, they were very poor, and they began to work hard and start to published their trip experience to produce money in purpose of make another 1 year trip around South East Asia.

But the best part of the story is about Wheeler family, There are pictures also attached in the book, my most fave are pictures when they celebrate their wedding anniversary. Their first anniversary celebrated at front of Taj Mahal, India , the symbol of eternal love. Their second anniversary took place at front of Opera House, Australia. Their thirteenth anniversary took place at front of San Fransisco bay with their children, their first abroad headquarter. Their 21st anniversary, took place at Himalaya mountain. Their celebrated and re-engaged their 25th wedding in Bali, and celebrated their 30th anniversary on Everest mountain.
What a gorgeous live and what a gorgeous love they have had.

I very love this book, it burns my spirit to fight for somethings i like. First step is the hardest part for everything, but they didn't hesitate to d0 it, first don't you ever thought about the barrier, planed well, just do it, and learn from the result, and improve it. Very simple huh, as long as you love it, you will never get tired !
